Colleen Shannon has been in practice for over 12 years specializing in working with parental and sibling bereavement, young adults coping with grief, and families experiencing significant losses and life transitions. With a background in both art therapy and social work, Colleen incorporates mindfulness-based practices, expressive arts, and narrative approaches into her work. She is deeply committed to building authentic, connected, and collaborative relationships with her clients.
Colleen believes that with patience, insight, and support, individuals can not only navigate through painful losses but develop a renewed sense of meaning and purpose in life. Colleen currently works with children and adolescents ages 6 – 18 as well as adults.
Colleen holds a MSW from Salem State University and a Bachelors Degree in Art Therapy from Lesley University. She is currently a program director at The Children’s Room, a family bereavement program located in Arlington, MA, as well as an adjunct faculty at Smith College School of Social Work.
